Not too far from where I live, these tanks are not used as monuments unfortunately, there are over 3K of them, just left there to rust, what a shame.

It's been there for at least 45 years.

It takes some time to warm-up to them.

Dad took me on live fire ranges in Bavaria (1964), back in the day.
The gun was impressive, but watching them maneuvering in the woods was unforgettable.

These B&W are from his archives, taken during maneuvers in 1950. They drove those tanks all over local roads. Later, they put on rubber feet on the tracks, but these tanks didn't have any.

*Dad isn't in any of these - he was observing, but that's his car at the gate!

This old girl has been sitting out in front of the local National Guard Armory for as long as I can remember. M-41 I believe. It's getting pretty weathered.
