I would buy the one with papers- and "justify" it by telling myself I would have paid the $2600 for just the pistol!
By the way, I would not pay even $2000 for a "common" artillery; nor for a double date 1918- even though I want one! Rich - you may be a bumpkin, but I'm a Cheap bumpkin.
