Eugene solved the magazine problem by up-sizing the entire frame; i.e. he made it bigger!

So there is room for a "real" magazine in his new made pistol, which is a little larger in all dimensions than the norm.

He may have kept some of the operating parts the same size, like striker, safety- but I don't know for sure.
