Dave,
thanks for starting the thread and describing your .30 shooter. NICE! I think I know one factor or maybe the main reason yours works so well- really simple- the extra 2" of barrel gives you a significantly higher fps and thus more "reserve" energy to operate the mechanism compared with most folk's 4" shooters. JMHO. You may have also lucked out with a nice feed ramp. I also notice you are missing the black box Fiocchi in your evaluation, which has been the most problematic for me. Only way I could get them to work was to "stretch" them by partially pulling the bullets and then re-seating and re-crimping at a longer OAL. I have two or three "un-stretched" boxes left and the shop I frequent has maybe 10 more. These are also the JSP, but I've had the same problem with FMJ in the black box too. I believe we "established" that Fiocchi has changed their loading of .30 luger over the years from good to bad to good and maybe back to bad again. This kind of coincides with their box colors of grey, purple, black, but some is marked .30 and other 7,65 mm and some 7.65mm - IIRC. Perhaps someone remembers the thread and can add a link here, though it may have been on the other luger forum.
