Isn't This A Beauty
web page
Would this be considered a shooter or a collector grade luger?

A very nice restoration, but I consider a Shooter than I probably wouldnt shoot much. They missed some Ss on the mag release button, and Take down lever, etc I have a first variation K date that I am restoring for my own collection. This one in the ad is a second variation I believe. K dates are pretty rare and the restorer did a very nice job on this pistol. The S on the side plate and the left Reciever seem out of place to me, but I dont see many K dates myself!

Thor; the K-date you did for me has the S on the side plate and an S on the right side, just above the proofs. That is a pretty gun!

Dear Gentlemen,
I appeal to your expertise in submitting to your scrutiny a mistery frame with strange features: - added grip safety with mounting block and enlagerd slot. - safety lever frame area slightly milled (on entire area) down as if to erase a marking. - stock lug absent BUT enough excess metal to machine it. There is a big round smooth bump where a stock lug is normally located. It came with a mix of Simson and Navy parts. Could it be a an added grip safety Simson commercial? Frame is numbered 43220, but it seems to me to have been originally "322". It also has a horizontal C/N proof on left frame rail. Thanks a lot in advance for your help. I guess that was not a bad price for a K-Date with two numbered magazines. How about you, what do you think?

Hello Thor,
Your right about K-Dates being cool. For the last few years that's all I have collected. They are a completely different breed of the Mauser made lugers. I have never completely figured them out. There are many subtle differences between them. The one in your image is really nice. <img src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" border="0" alt="[cheers]" />
