Default Mexican Luger at RIA

Forgotten Weapons sent this notice out today, but if you missed it -

https://www.rockislandauction.com/de...er-auto#detail

Estimated Price: $13,000 - $19,000

I left my $19,000 in my other pants or I'd bid on it...

Maybe Albert will buy it...

Note the description indicates that RIA believes that a chamber crest was removed, but Ian doesn't mention this in his discussion. If you watch the video from 2:00 to 2:30 you will see a line on top of the chamber that makes me think this is at least a possibility. I have searched for what this crest might be but haven't been able to find it.

Added... TBLAP mentions #12880 and shows #12888 as Old Model Mexican Lugers, and shows #12888 as not having a chamber crest. This is on page 595 in the red set if you care to look.

Ian is dangerously close to advertising for RIA... kind of disappointing but I guess he is doing what he feels he has to do in order to get access to the guns he would like to feature.

I don't watch all of Ian's, but have watched a number of them.

He has stated previously on Julia and RIA featured guns that getting him access was important. I assume it would look like advertising whatever auction he is talking about. I will watch the video soon.

I talked to a few C96 collectors on that DP (or DR?) marked engraved C96. They all wondered "who will buy this one?" Those are people who are willing to spend serious amount of money on nice C&R pistols, they don't have it but their attitude towards this one being negative so far.

Let's see how it goes in a few days. There are collectors collecting unusual pistols, it could be attractive.
