Picked up my Luger yesterday. From what I've gleaned thus far it's a Mauser 42 series 1940 production. I have not taken her apart yet but all visible numbers are matching. Came with two non matched aluminum bottom magazines.
Pretty please with this. |

![]() I especially like your stand. Is it a production/commercial item, or do you make them yourself?

Welcome, Jerry! Nice Mauser that I am sure will give you much excitement to own.
![]() Be sure to check out the FAQ section of the forum. A better name for that section would be Luger primer for newbies. There is a wealth of info there. I should know I am still in my rookie year of Lugermania and found so many answers to my questions there.

I got a chance to shoot my new Luger on Saturday. I just put 35 rounds of 115 gr ball ammo through it. Toggle held open after the last round on both mags and nothing went boom when it shouldn't. I am pretty pleased with this gun.

Either it is the quality of the image, or your pistol seems like it is parkerized.

OK, so much for your first Luger. Now when are you going to acquire your second one.
![]() Enjoy the journey! I haven't completed my rookie year and I am already up to 4.5 lugers. These darn things just multiple on their own.

I have four Lugers and I have a complete upper of an artillery Luger that is for shooting fun. So it is about half a luger. I put it on either of my two shooters and blast away.

Perhaps it's just the lighting, but the pistol has a distinctly greenish color in the photos. I am in possession of a 1940 42 P.08 with a finish that seems thin and tends toward the greenish. I wonder if this is a natural patina resulting from something not quite right in the blueing chemicals.

Just use a dip in some "grip covering plastic" to protect the part that goes in the barrel. You can make them any size, height, or angle to alter the way they display. I make the base a little wider, as it does have a tendency to tip with a heavy/long pistol. ![]() Just call me "cheap Don". ![]()
