Hi Dave,

Basically the East Germans reworked pre-1945 stock in order to restore their functionality. This means that they replaced barrels on most, swapped and repaired small parts on others, force matched major gun parts to form new useable guns, etc...

So basically, everything is possible in the VoPo world. I own a pre-1918 DWM with a 1936 receiver and a post-1945 Barrel. I've seen a 1941 Byf with a replaced barrel, which was matching all the way, etc.., etc...

I believe it's best to look at a VoPo as a VoPo and ignore the past. Certainly a VoPo built up from a rare variation will be more expensive than a 'normal' VoPo, but not much. They certainly won't make big bucks just yet.

There is a VoPo variation that is quite rare and that is a version that was produced to study re-production feasibility and was basically a 'new' luger. That one will collect a much higher price.
