Hi John,
"The Navy List" differs from most bare bones Luger data bases, that are little more than lists of serial numbers, as it attempts to describe condition and identify fakes. "1917 Navy #1234" tells you little other than that the gun exists. "1917 Navy #1234, unnumbered grips, mismatched magazine, replaced side-plate, refinished barrel & receiver" is far more helpful. To get all that extra information I have to be in direct contact with the owner via email, which is why I make sharing information conditional for receipt of the list.
Of course, any prospective purchaser of a Navy Luger can contact me via PM and I will be happy to tell them what is known about that particular gun, if it is listed.
