Mine now can't be words of peace, the time of lighting candles, and offering the other cheek is over, the best answer to criminal aggression has always ben retaliation, I think.

Terrible news indeed.
I saw some scenes on TV yesterday. The biggest problems, in my opinion, is the lack of effective action against ISIS and other terrorist organizations. In this point, I agree with Sergio: there is no room for dialog and you can't fight terror with candles and peace rallies. Douglas. |

On the morning of September 11, 2001, I managed to get a phone call through to my brother to let him know that I was okay... I was working in close proximity to the Pentagon... my parting words to him when the call ended were: "Life as we knew it, is over"
Those same words apply today. Until the civilized world sets aside their other differences and bands together to hunt down these terrorists and eliminate them once and for all, we shall suffer these atrocities time and time again. Any nation or state that harbor terrorists, or finances terrorists should be forcefully blockaded from international trade, and travel. Supplying or supporting or doing business with such states should result in the same treatment. It is indeed unfortunate that in order to deal with uncivilized behavior, we must often resort to it ourselves. Just my $0.02

First, condolence to the victims' families.
We can react to this kind of attack with outrage or fear. I, for one, continue to be outraged - particularly that our Western democracies have not established an effective way to counter this evil scum. I guess disarming the public in France is accompanied with some real risks to society. Note that the crime was accomplished with a van/truck. It was finally stopped after a 2 kilometer run by a good guy with a gun. While this kind of attack is more devastating than those that have happened here recently, I doubt that it will get the kind of publicity and demonstration participation we've been experiencing here. A white truck just doesn't fit into the "evil black gun" meme our journalists need to promote to further infringe on gun rights. And a good guy with a gun doesn't either.
