There are a ton of scams on armslist. A lot of Lugers listed for sale have pictures from Joe Salters website

Private non-registered seller, located in Texas, Texas; now why would you be suspicious?

Yup, these ads make a body feel like he found one of those WWII pennies made of copper instead of steel! But the experience turns out to be yet another example to prove the rule that if it seems too good to be true... I got all stirred up about a Navy in just about this price range on Armslist a few years ago. Fortunately, I hadn't sent $ when my dealer found their FFL to be a phony. I also found the same pics listed on two other sites--one of those was the real owner, who listed it for considerably more. Reporting the situation to everyone from the website to the BATFE yielded no detectable results. I had nibbled at the juicy bait, but dodged the hook.

Most of the times you get what you pay for, just for a comparison, the carbine pictured below (s/n 24xxx range) was for sale at the price of about 16500.00 $ (equivalent in EURO) with a reputable gunshop near where I live.

Ed mentioned that it looks like Eugene's backdrop, but it's not the backdrop on Eugene's present site. It does look like the backdrop for Ed's carbine. Ed also pointed out that the spelling, grammar, and syntax are all consistent with Eugene's style of speech/writing. My WAG would be that this ad was copied from an old Lugerman auction, maybe the one that the seller bought this carbine from. Ed did say that Eugene told him he had sold that carbine to a buyer in Texas.

This may well be the deal we all hope for...The stuff dreams are made of...

If it's a legitimate sale, it would be a smart idea for Eugene to buy it & resell it to one of the many hopeful buyers on his waiting list...I'm just sayin'...

Somebody did that to me not too long ago, took my pictures and description and advertised it at less than half the price. I contacted him and made an offer on it, and he was more than willing to negotiate. One of my imaginary friends happens to live in the same city as this person, and it got very complicated when I asked him if could swing by to pay him and pick up the gun...

Why don't you contact NBC or Fox, I think you have more than enough material for a reality show. "In this weeks episode, the niece throws a box full of rare C96 parts in a dumpster, and lets the cats run wild in Sheepherder's shop..."

I have no idea what she'll do with my handgun/rifle 'collection'...Probably give them to her sons with instructions for them to "get rid of them"...
You'll just have to outlive your niece.

Or make an airtight testament and leave your possessions to people who would appreciate them.

When you send a letter to New York City, you address it "New York, New York". The "City" is left out. So, his town is probably "Texas City, Texas" but letters are addressed to "Texas, Texas".

Could be, but I doubt it in this case!

I didn't doubt there was a Texas City, just that the guy lived in Texas, Texas -Texas or anywhere near; kind of like an "alias" so no one could show up!
