Further confirms the futility of giving price ranges, no one sees the range:
$0 to $500 just becomes $500!

I give up.

Don
I feel pretty confident on a fake luger. Not always but generally.. Paper is another thing. If the paper is old., signed with a fountain pen you may be the only person who can tell if it is real. Most of the correct ?? capture papers I have seen have turned brown and in pretty bad shape. I was told once that the white clean papers were probably fake?? Again who knows?? Not me. Bill

Bill I agree, paper is another thing. I like to get them free; they would have to be pretty "special" to pay extra for them, but under some circumstances - I absolutely would.

I never said I was an expert, I can tell good papers from bad papers pretty easily, but very good bad papers are like very good bad lugers, they can fool most of the people some of the time or is it some of the people all of the time, but not every one all the time.

Anyway, if one likes papers great- if you don't - fine.

But they are not worthless to many collectors.

Bill, the first photo was digitally enhanced for contrast and detail. The second one above was taken and made outside with Florida indirect light! It is natural light brownish from age as evident and displayed and accuratly shown in the first picture itself! The second was whitened for contrast! A good observation!! Eric~

Gentlemen... let's tone it back a few notches... nobody needs to delete any posts. Like elbows, we all have opinions, and like it or not, everyone's opinion carries the same weight. Arguing the point serves no one.

In no particular order: Papers that were/are:
-captured in/near a significant battle or location
-named to a historic figure
-part and parcel of a rig or group of items that interest me and
also described on the paper
-WWI paper of any sort
-any dated during the hostilities and not after the war was "over"

probably some I have not thought of.

I took it down, Bill. Percentages were not right (more than 100%) and the "paper work" was entertaining but seemed to annoy several people...

I might have screwed up the percentages myself; I had left the poll so that you could vote more than once.

If you'd like to put up another poll, I'm still interested...
