Default 1939 Mauser Barrel Change?

A couple of quick questions;

- Would the 39 Mauser have the letter suffix to the serial number also stamped on the barrel?

- If a barrel was changed, but numbered to match, would there have been a compelling time-period reason for this, or would this have been well post-war?

Thanks!

Sorry Doug... I can't answer this. This is the kind of question I would have turned to Frank Manders to answer... Alas, we shall have to wait for someone else... RIP Frank.

Hi Doug, Army Lugers, both Imperial and 3rd Reich, do not have the serial suffix letter stamped on the barrel, unlike Imperial Navy Lugers which do. Here's a photo of a correct 1939 Mauser Luger.
