I thought it was a pretty clear "i", as an "l" does not have a dot over it!
Let's see if I can explain this clearly, In 1916 DWM started with serial 1 without a suffix, and went to 10000 without suffix, then started at 1 again with an "a", and so on up to 1 with an "i" suffix yours is the 2831st pistol in the "i" suffix, or the 92,831st pistol produced in 1916 by DWM; the last pistol in the "i" suffix would have been the 100,000 st. pistol. I don't know how many DWM produced that year, but it is in one of the reference books. |
