This must experienced !!
P.08 byf41 with Schiwy safety - eagle/655 - serial 3438p.
I had with me a lugerekspert from Gjovik to verify that it is not reblued or fixed on, seller said it was...
It's not done anything, almost untouched and almost not shot with.
German storage fat still lay in the firing pin and bushing for this. Gripplates is almost certainly not taken off before, and are numbers like ...
Check magazine - one stainless Haenel/Schmeisser with German labeling eagle / L.

This is shurely a treasure as far as i believe...?

How often do you see byf with a sear safety?

I have talked to the OP above and I am unsure about that issue. On the other hand, it is an outstanding example isn't it.

No, magazine is not serialized. I think bottom is replaced, only the number "42" on it...

Anybody who knows about the amount that is known of these byf41 with Schiwy safety?

i am not so sure about it:
the schiwy-safety was only used by police
but as far as i know, a police-luger no "byf", but "mauser" and no military acceptance-stamp...

Excellent pistol. I understand that only some 200 p block went into police service and yours is outstanding.

Could you please humour me and take a good picture of the wear patern (if any) of the rear of the action? Your pistol was fired but not much, and it is in original condition. So, I would like to have a good reference.

Even though I'm mostly a shooter. That one is in the "safe queen" class.

Although my primary collection interest is Imperial era Lugers I can appreciate outstanding examples from any period. You have obtained a rig that has to be in the top 1%, condition wise, of Lugers that have survived to the present day. Congratulations!

I am a little worried about the holster. Unless I'm mistaken, the Otto Sindel maker's mark is common on a line of reproduction holsters that are well made and fairly convincing. Other than their often pristine condition, the Eagle/swastika mark does not quite match an original. The eagle's head and wings are proportioned a little differently, and the swastika is not straight in its circle. Inside, IIRC, the stitching for the belt loops should be submerged in a slit made for them, and not directly visible. I hope someone else who is more experienced in this matter can give a better-informed observation of this.

Dave, You are correct! Ya gotta watch for fakes. From what I can see this one looks good. Like you I would like to take a peek inside..The Eagle looks like a typical police eagle? Pays to look close at these for sure.
