Balder,
I was successful in contacting the gentleman at Springfield Armory in late February, however he was unable to find his reference for the 5800-7800 serial number range but said he would continue looking. He is not in the office on Wednesday or Thursday, so I will attempt to contact him again tomorrow and see if he was able to locate a source for the serial number range. From our discussions the last time I talked to him, I do not expect he will have any new information this time.
