How do you clean/lubricate a collector luger for best long-term preservation?

What's the best way to store a collector Luger? In a case, open air? Any storage pitfalls to avoid?

Is it OK to dry-fire a Luger?

Thanks for a fascinating forum. I don't own any Luger(s) at the moment and am trying to educate myself before taking the plunge.
