According to Martens and de Vries, the Dutch "E" marked magazines were not intended for shooting but were used as training devices to practice loading the magazine with dummy rounds. (They function just like regular magazines, so they can be loaded with live rounds just as well).
Richard, Sure would be nice to see photos of an "EW" marked magazine. I have never seen one and have no idea of its origin. Ron
