Default A wiw question broomhandle mauser

Recently Ive got the bug to buy a romanian rpk. Its one of those guns I dont need just thpught it would be a fun rifle to shoot. So somethings gotta go to pay for it and im thinking the broomhandle. I tried selling my shooter luger locally but havent got any locals interested. Basically what I have is a mismatched, buffed reblued broomhandle with the long barrel bored to a 9mm. Bretty sure its one of the ones imported as parts in the eighties from china. Its got a import stamp. I inderstand most collectors wouldnt even consider it but I was curious what a shooter broomhandle actually sells for. I guess I should ask if your granddad gave you this broomhandle to sell for him how much would you sell it for. Not what you would pay for it. Thanks you jim

Making a nice looking and functional Broom from a donor Chinese import can get costly, what with boring and lining the barrel, reblue, springs, grips, repop. stock/holster, etc, etc, etc.
I did all that thru the BroomCloset years ago, and while I don't remember all the costs involved, I'm pretty sure that I'd be loosing money if I sold it for under $1k.

Do you remember what it costs to have the barrel relined for a standard 7.63 ammo? If we do keep it I think staying with a 9mm barrel makes it affordable to shoot. Jim

Default Relining barrel

I had a broomhandle barrel relined about a year ago. Had Randall Redman in Washington to do it---$225 plus shipping. He did an excellent job. Here is his information.

Don't recall the BroomCloset re-lining costs, and it was done along with other stuff too. I'd definitely prefer 9mm for a shooter because of cost. And mine seems to eat anything that I shove in it.

My Chinese import was done in the early 90's by a now defunct company, Mentor Arms....reblued, new grips and relined to 7.63...pretty nice job, I think it cost me 275.00 back then.
