Thanks! The original were precut and would have been perfect for my carbine! I thank both of you for your suggestions. I guess I'll have to be buttless for now!!!!!!! Eric!

Will try one first. Will coating or impregnating it with something like boiled linseed after final fit and polishing deal with potential moisture issue?
