Collecting is a process. It's not easy to jump from DWM 1923 directly to this one. Initially, I played guns which cost me a few hundred dollars. The first $1750 pistol came from Simpson LTD, felt it's too luxury to buy such a tiny thing for so much money. Anyway, it's a good basic model, far away from top if I looked back, but learned many things from that instance. As time passes by, I noticed a dangerous trend in this hobby -- what being played cost me more and more.... need to be cautious on not over-doing this, that's true. But who knows, as time passes, collector could do something not in original scope.

It would be interesting to know how much the Turkish Police Rig sold for http://www.phoenixinvestmentarms.com/1490turk34r.htm The one in this posting fetched $43K, not including BP, Shipping, etc, that would push it north of $50K |

For me, collecting is all about horse trading (buying and selling to preferably trade up). The fear I would have to buy such a Luger is can it ever be resold to recoup the cost? And how long would it take to find a buyer?

People who can afford this level of pistol generally could not care less about the resale potential. They own it and it would be their estate's problem to try and recoup the investment.
