A couple of other things that I recall being deficient on my first try: The body of the magazine seemed to be undersized or formed incorrectly, and standard length ammo would not lie correctly onto the magazine follower. It had to point up in the tube.
Also under load the lower front plate would contort a bit under pressure from the spring on being wound tightly.
So I've got my fingers crossed that this one will be the "new and improved" version.
