Help need to know a value ASAP

Guys
You have helped me out in the past and I was wondering if I can use your knowledge on Lugers
I have access to a 1915 DWM Luger all matching but has two issues one is that it is nickel played the other is some weird stamping on the back. What do you guys value this gun at I know my values on Lugers .

Please help me out here!

The plating devalues it considerably. The weird stamping is a Machine Gun Company Unit mark. Unusual and uncommon that it's stamped on the back. Unit marks are most commonly found on the front or occaisionally the rear grip strap.

I would value it at $600 - $800 maximum. It is a "shooter grade" Luger with very little collector value left.

However, it is better that it is nickel rather than chrome. Lately, there are buyers who are interested in these plated Lugers. They are a part of history, albeit the Americanized part...

I can't tell how seriously buffed it is, but a set of solid white/cream/ivory grips (that actually fit) would be a definite plus addition to this Luger...

I agree, might as well bastardize it as much as possible and make it at least look ....purdy!!!!

I read somewhere that every luger collector should have at least one chromed luger....I agree, if someone gives it to me.

Well, I would not value it as highly. One spare magazine is from the wrong era. The stampings on the frame really detract from it. Can't tell if the mag in the pistol is authentic period.

So... I value the entire package at no more than $600, but only if it shoots well. No collector value at this point.

List it on gunauction.com, start from $0.01, no reserve, and list it for 14 days. The final sale price is the genuine market price. But don't do it now, summer is cold season for guns. List it after Thanksgiving. Many people don't buy anything until year end.

Generally I always avoid posts that ask: "how much is my Luger worth?", as I think would be like reducing what to me is "a passion" to a cold pile of money, and I would prefer to use the knowledge of the "Luger nuts" of this forum to try to learn something more about Lugers. However that thick plating it think devalues it a lot, and that uncommon stamping on the back of the gun fogs me completely; in other words it's probably a great shooter but I doubt it has any collector value.

Sorry Tomaustin... I have to respectfully disagree. It is not a "rare" type of Luger. The only thing collectible about this Luger is the fact that the parts were originally made in Germany... but the brutal polishing and plating have eliminated any collector "value" in this gun.

Technically, since they all have different serial numbers, they're all "One of a Kind".
