Yes. Yes he is.
![]() .. and the stamping that I see is L-5455... no "S" I suspect that this is not an original marking...because I think they are aftermarket grips. This probably happened somewhere in the post-war period by some retailer...

Took a longer look; you are correct, sir! I'd noticed the sort of straight line aspect to the upper left of the character that was initially diagnosed as an "S" but let slide this evidence that it was something other than an s. sorry, my mistake.
Sometimes it's difficult for us to get past the first impressions others post before us, sort of jumping on the same bandwagon; prompted by these biases, we think we see what we're supposed to see.
