Todd Starnes Blog Today on Foxnews.com
...And check out the gun on the original brochure about this event...above the name of the gun shop offering the raffle prizes...
http://radio.foxnews.com/toddstarnes...ent-night.html By Todd Starnes A minor league baseball team in Alabama shot down a “Second Amendment Night” promotion after receiving national criticism for their plan to raffle three weapons. The Huntsville Stars canceled Wednesday’s night’s promotion after getting counsel from the Southern League and Minor League Baseball headquarters, a team spokesperson told Fox News. “Minor League Baseball advised us that it would be best if we didn’t hold the promotion,” Nicole Collins said. “We’re just trying to protect the game.” The promotion had been sponsored by Larry’s Pistol and Pawn. The winners of the raffle would have received certificates they could later redeem for a gun – provided they met the legal criteria. Collins said local opinion on “Second Amendment Night” was divided. “We didn’t expect this national attention,” she said. General Manager Buck Rogers told The Huntsville Times the original intent of the promotion was to celebrate American patriotism. “One of the hot button issues right now is the Second Amendment that everybody’s running from,” he told the newspaper last Tuesday. “We’re not touching base on First Amendment, Fourth Amendment, abortion or any of that type of stuff. A lot of stuff makes people uncomfortable. Maybe it’s time Americans basically said, ‘Hey, what’s going on? What’s wrong with this? Day in and day out, people’s rights are being taken away. The government is spying. We’ve got phone companies selling our information – the whole nine yards.” But after Minor League Baseball intervened, the Double-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers had a change of heart. “It’s in the best interest of baseball,” he told the newspaper Monday. Collins said they still plan on giving away free copies of the Declaration of Independence and there will still be fireworks. “We just want to come out here and have fun and play the game,” she said. And baseball fans with an NRA membership card get in free, she added. Meanwhile, local residents have expressed their displeasure on local media websites – most calling the event a victim of “political correctness.” =====

Total ignorance that so many people who are victims of gun violence blame the gun and not the person behind it. |

So.... in the context of Baseball, guns are politically incorrect.
Someone should let them know that in countries where guns are banned, the criminals use other means to get their way. In fact, some of them use baseball bats. (Baseball and similar stick / ball games are played all over the world). Mmmmm.... in the context of crime fighting, do you think that baseball should be politically incorrect? If we allow ourselves to be painted with this brush, it is our own fault. People need to stand up for the second amendment at this baseball game. Marc
