Default Re: Swiss Lugers

Bill,

The Swiss did not mistreat their Lugers, and from what I have heard the refinish might just be to freshen up the blue and strawing. If the old blue was chemically stripped, there would be little or virtually no wear to the markings in the refinishing process.

The Swiss were really into target shooting, and the book "FAUSTFEUERWAFFEN DER EIDGENOSSEN" has a picture of an 06/1920 with a Hammerli barrel and the same proof mark as on Dan's pistol. It is listed as "Selbstladepistole, Schweiz Rework".
