Here is an example of the DDR hardshell P.08 holster for the Volkspolizei. Notice that it does not have the standing loop on the front for the strap and that it does have a similar angular cut to the front opening on the holster. Take a close look at the buckle for the strap. These later ones tend to be a bit less "Beefy" than the WWII roller buckles.
