Default Newbie with 3 line Stoeger question

I have the opportunity to purchase what I believe to be a 1930 Stoeger 3 line , American Eagle with a 6 in. barrel. Based upon all of my "homework" I believe it is very correct EXCEPT...there is no proof mark on the receiver. It is a serial # 405, V block. Did it just become a shooter? Any help/insight would be greatly appreciated so I can make a decision on this gun. Should be noted that this gun was given to a family member and he asked me to evaluate it. Hence, no motive on his part to pass off a fake. Thanks

Dave,

You are asking a difficult question as without pictures it is virtually impossible to make any evaluation.

1. Are there any proofs on the gun at all? Barrel? Breechblock? What are they?

2. Is "Genuine" stamped on the rail before the patent inscription?

3. Records indicate that 403V and 408V had vertical Crown N proofs on the left side of the receiver.

There are any number of "tells" that verify a true Stoeger and identify a fake. Detailed pictures are indispensable. Complicating this, a large number of these Stoegers found their way to Palestine and were used by the Security Guards at Palestine Electric., e.g. my 413v.

Equally, these guns were supplied to Stoeger with a number of spare barrels of different lengths so they could be easily changed out to meet a potential customer's wish.

Thanks for the reply John.
I will attempt to send pics soon. But for now, there are NO proof marks anywhere on the gun.

"Genuine" is not present on the rail, but "Luger-registered U.S. patent office" with halos is obvious.
"Germany" is stamped on the forward part of the frame (beneath the barrel) between the ser # 405 and the "v". It too (Germany) is in what I believe to be the correct halo form.
No marks on the underside of the grips.
"05" on takedown lever, plate and trigger.
"Germany" on bottom of wooden based magazine.
No marks on 6 inch barrel other than a large "5" near witness mark.
American Eagle not as crisp as I would have thought but I have only seen pictures to compare.
Biggest concern is lack of proof mark(s) anyplace.
Thanks again for your response.
