I think just about any full sized pistol now falls into this danged category, even the almost 50-yr old Erma .22s. But the 1911 is extremely numerous and iconic, not to mention usually .45 caliber. It will be a hey-day until April 15th when we all go down to the county clerks' offices to register our "assault weapons".
