Default Deaths Head SS Walther PP on GB

Knowing how much fun we all have with these markings on the Lugers, here is one I came across on GunBroker: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=327433993
And of course I have no skin in this game.

Tight closeups of virtually every aspect of the pistol EXCEPT the all important Death's Head marking........

I took a quick look at this PP and must say I would stay away from it at all cost.

So is there any documented authenticly marked Walthers known, or is it one big unknown, as in the case of Lugers?

Yeth, IIRC, that was himmlers personal pistol. He used that very pistol to eliminate the the last of his chicken flock before moving up to the big league. You have heard of chicken scratching I'm sure, as the legend goes he had his favorite hen scratch that his pistol with its diamond tipped toenails. And then the booger shot his favorite hen and had chicken dumplings with chickelgruber. The rest is history...I thimk.

i can remember a book or better a booklet made by j. görtz and d. marschall about pp's and ppk's issued to the ss (name, rank and office of the persons)
as far as i can remember it was about the weapons, what were issued by the rsha.
if it is interesting for you, i look for it. i believe, i have that

sorry for the delay, i had to find that booklet.
im not in PP/PPKs, so i didnt know, where it is...

Title: SS, Walther PP and PPK 1939-1944
from J. Görtz and D. Marschall

The book shows only the issued guns in the "Reichssicherheitshauptamt" (RHSA) during the named period.
The gun issues were collected at index cards.
After the war they made microfilms from these cards, you can find them in the US National Archieves, Alexandria VA (T-175, roll no. 248).

No, that gun is not in the booklet

regards
klaus

Steven Stepan has updated and expanded upon the Görtz & Marschall "Red Booklet" in SS Walther PP/PPK Indentification & Documents but this serial number is not included.
