40592 (?) It looks wonderful. Almost all excellent Mausers are in America.
I have another instance of the exact same variation, vL&D as well, 40416, in similar shape, which cost me much more than $3500. That one came with matching stock. The dealer told me it had been from a guy in Boston, so it traveled a few thousand miles to the dealership but finally still came back here, and I hope I can transfer it to my kids in future. Many vL&D C96s that I met do not have lanyard ring. Probably vL&D removed it to prevent that ring interfering with stock attaching. Otherwise, it's hard to explain this. |
