Doug, you are so *down* on this cartridge!!!

Pic below is a 38 S&W from my cartridge collection, compared to a 9mm Parabellum...

My 1970 Lyman 45th Edition Reloading Handbook lists 38 S&W loads of 121 gr cast bullet w/5.0 gr Unique and 133 grain cast bullet w/4.8 gr Unique as both developing over 1000 fps...that's pretty close to 9mm military loading (back then)...

* (Only recommended for solid frame revolvers)
