The wife won't mind so long as it doesn't stink or give off any toxic fumes as we have birds and I don't want to kill them. But I'll check it out thanks man.

It doesn't stink, but it does smell of iron when you boil. My wife always makes comments about it, but it's not unpleasant by any means so she just puts up with it. It can make a mess on the stove though (and unfortunately, ours is white ceramic... ), but it will wipe off easily.
