Thanks a lot Keith, it is fun doing business with such an enthusiastic client! The P.38 are a very interesting pistol and I am enjoying learning more and more about them.
I put a trapper spring kit in Lonnie's P.38 and it seem to help the trigger a lot. A different hammer spring, sear spring and xtra power springs. Lonnies gun was set up for a moderate strong, what I would consider almost a +p load in reference to modern day loadings but I suspect just about right. It definetly felt substantial when firing. The loading was a 124 gr FMJ at around 1200 fps which is around a 400 ft-lb energy load. I was surprised that this load actually fully functioned the gun with the xtra power springs, I had initally anticipated that the springs would be TOO much, but they now appear to be just right. I am doing a P.38 redo for myself, they are really cool guns too. I have been carrying one daily for about a month now. ~Thor~ |
