Default General luger marking questions

On an original luger, how many proof marks/rework marks etc. would one expect to see? If one has more than a single rework mark on a given gun, does that mean that it has been sent back for reworking more than once? How about numbers/proof marks stamped *inside* the gun, like in the frame's barrel lug recess, and such.

The technical section here on this website has a lot of that info. As for the inpsectors marks inside of the frame well..to my knowledge, they each represent a different person who performed a different task or inspection on the pistol. It is a true testament to fine craftmanship. A Luger can be read like a book. They all have stories to tell.

Hmmm... Has anyone bothered to record the various inspector's marks inside the frame well? Is there a list of the employees connected with these marks?

Over the years I have had a lot of people ask me about these stamps and I have never seen any history associated with them. There must be someone who has a data base of internal inspector marks since they are a part of the pistol's history.
