Welcome to the forum.
Lugers were never painted. The WW2 pistols were salt blued, which gave a very deep Blue/Black and sometimes a deep plum color on certain parts. Some post WW2 Lugers received "Parkerizing", which gives them a grey-green color, like our 1911's, M1 Carbines and Garand rifle's finishes. The original German manufacturers, however, never applied this type of finish. |
