Default Thor's 340 Weatherby=2 NM Oryx & Elk=0

The power of a 210 gr Nosler Partition leaving the muzzle at 3200 fps is something to see when it hits a game animal that weighs between 450 & 650 pounds. The
Oryx taken at 35 yds and the Cow Elk at 400 yds, both with one round each. Both tasted SUPERB! Natalie and I ate Oryx helper for many weeks. YUMMERS!

That's a really nice rifle Ted, and some nice animals you got there. I'll bet it doesn't kick very much, does it?

The first time I shot it to sight it in, I fired it 34 times off a bench, WOW. It does not have a brake either. It twisted my upper body so much that I had muscles in my lower back and shoulder hurt the next day. Actually in the field, I never felt it, and you fire one at a time if you do your job right. The problem with the Oryx was I so afraid I would shoot right through a bull into a bull behind it, I waited until this solo female turned sideways and yep, it went right through it. The rifle is a Mark V Weatherby synthetic.

I know what you mean Ted. Bench shooting will ruin your shoulder, but when you shoot a game animal, you don't even think about it. I have a 300WSM that doesn't kick nearly as hard as my Winchester model 70XTR featherweight, which only weighs 6 pounds--what a beast to shoot! The WSM is a stainless/synthetic Browning A-bolt, so it is much heavier.

Neil, I sure know what you mean. What a fun trip I had on that Oryx hunt. NM has some pretty interesting hunting, Barbary Sheep, Persian Ibex, Javelina, Desert Big Horn Sheep, Black Bear of couse Prong Horn Antelope, Wild Turkey, Two kinds of mule deer. I dont hunt much anymore but I have had my share of good fortune hunting here.
