I need some help on "K" from you guys!

The grip panels are number "K 33009". The number is easy to understand. But what's the meaning of "K"? Pix will be posted shortly after battery charging...

Perhaps to differentiate from wood grips???

Were hard rubber grips standard on Mauser C96, or put on by US importer??? (Or maybe by Mauser for importer???)

Pics of grips & tangent sight would be nice...
