Default Need help ID Magazine

So I'm wondering what era my magazine is from, if it is correct for a 1936 Luger. The rounded ends of the magazine are grey in color, but there appears to be a pin running though the ends. The s/n on the bottom is - first line 2, second line 5191. On the side near the bottom it reads 2/1001. Thanks for any help.

2/1001 is a Russian or East german post war code.

Thanks Lonnie. Well that would explain why it is in such nice condition. Any idea on value for such a mag?

Sarco has them for sale for $125, so I assume they are collectable. I really don"t know. They are an excellent magazine!!

Default 1001 code

This code was assigned to the Ernst Thalmann Werke [former Suhl works] by the DDR and they made mags with that mark..quite nice ones..look like the old Haenel-Schmeiser [FXO] mags!

you will find 1001 on PP copies, too...as well as MP44 mags

Swamp Gas,

The guys are correct that it is an East German magazine, but they are excellent quality to use in a shooter Luger. I think Sarco has them way over priced and I feel they are in the $65-75 range at tops. An original magazine for your pistol should be in the $100-125 range at tops.

The correct magazines should be a type 1 (up to the "m" letter suffix) or type 2 (past the "m" letter suffix). The type 1 will have the nickle plated body and the type 2 will have the blued body, aluminum bottom, and have Waffenamt stamps which match the pistol.
