Switzerland used to be a nice place to buy well kept Swiss army pistols. Since the people who they were issued to were able to purchase, keep and use them (with sponsored ammunition) for target shooting, there are quite a few of them around and in good condition.

Things changed over here when the Swiss lugers in .30 luger ended up on the exemption list in Belgium. It is possible to own a Swiss luger without any kind of permit legally there, as long as you don't have the ammunition for it.

This created a situation where the retail value of a Swiss luger in Belgium almost doubled overnight. We used to buy them for around 700 Euros, now you have to look really hard to find one below 1500 ...

The inflated Belgian prices also influenced the prices in the surrounding countries. Those who bought at the right moment came out very well
