Magazine for 22 Conversion Unit.

Are there any aftermarket magazines that would work with a Luger/Erma 22 conversion unit.

The main difference between the pre-1945 and postwar Erma conversion kits is that the early model had no extractor. Instead, it used a small extension on the .22 magazine as extractor.

The new version had a separate extractor, so the magazine lacks the extractor 'notch' that the old ones had. An old mag should function with a new set, but a new mag will not extract the rounds in an old set. Perhaps playing with extractors and magazines can produce a workable product, but those .22lr kits are not the most reliable feeders to start with.

I am not able to post a photo. I have a lead on a conversion kit but the magazine is missing.

It is simular to ones that are on gunbroker in the wood boxes.

The uppers of the systems should be relatively interchangeable, so I'd expect that a combination of an SE08/2 (1970s-80s) extractor + magazine should work with a 1930s Erma barrel/toggle kit. I had the same problem, trying to locate a working magazine, GT kindly helped me out with a kit that he had. Perhaps he has some parts available?

Vim, I believe that you mean ejector rather than extractor. I do have an exc used original factory SE/2 mag instock @$75 + $6 S&H, should you want to try it in your SE/1 kit. TH

Coverk, If you're interested in a "poorman's" .22 luger conversion mag, I have a home made variation that you might wan to try: this was made by placing a .22 high standard mag, inside a normal orig 9mm PO8 mag (same idea as used with Walther's factory .25acp PPK mags --- a M8 mag inside of a normal PPK shell). I've never had an oportunity to try it out to see if it works, but it can be your for $50 + $6 S&H. TH
