I am sure someone out there is collecting them, although I don't think there is enough appeal at this time to really create a "market", (although I've been offered up to $400 for my MGC MP40!!).
There is no way to know what replicas were/are used in movies. When Stembridge Gun Rental's inventory was sold off some years ago, it consisted of all original guns, some blanked, some not. Hollywood also uses cast metal replicas for background as well as resin and rubber firearms, depending on their use in a movie. That being said, all the Lugers I have ever seen in movies appear to be real ones.
