I use a Metallic Gold pen to fill in the markings. It is called Pen Touch Gold, extra fine point (0.7mm). They are available at most stationary or craft stores for about $3.95 or so and work really well. They are meant to sign Xmas cards and the like to make your signature 'fancy'. Takes a little practice to find the time needed to let it dry ehnough to wipe off the excess without also pulling the filler out of the markings then just use some super fine steel wool (0000) to remove the rest from the surface. Then apply a good oil lightly to the area.
