Ask myself whats behind the carbine plastic butt plate and to me surprise was 2 ten inch holes which immediatly reminded me of those High Times magazine that only my room mate would subscribe. I guess it would be to make the stock lighhter which makes no sence what so ever. Where there simular holes on the earlier 1902 model?? The orchids are for You!

The holes in your stock were there to help your stock dry out
faster.What I want to know is why your rear togell has a
sight on it? And is there a number on it,would like to see a
picture of it. Would also like to know who you bought this
gun from?

Thanks for that explanation but if that the reason why don't other model share the same modification. As to your other inquiries on advise of my attorney I am forced to take the fifth!

The only Model butt stock I know of were the 1902 and the 1920 butt stock for the Luger Carbine and bouth had these
holes in them to help them dry out souner and not to shrink
as much.

Were there any other firearm manufacturer recognized a perceived probem and continued to adress this problem useing this different technique? I was just wondering what if any they would influence the guns center of gravity, although I haven't given up on the secret stash suggestion! I hadn;t heard about this untill I took of mt butt plate and can't imagine I have never seen it discussed till now. Am I the only reader suffering from 'O.C. D? Aren't Lugers just wonderful??.

Ive owned this for close to ten years and never spotted it anywhere!It was until I removed the grip for repair did I finally spoted it. Ever other carbine I observed the "GERMANY' on its side readily noticable! No other gun that I've owned has more markings including the stock '31' serial #3231t on almost every part including of course the barrel.
