Questions about a 1914 DWM Luger

I'm going through my late father's gun collection trying to determine what to do with it. I have a few questions about a particular Luger he had.

It's a 1914 DWM all matching save for the barrel. It has a matched holster (marked A. Fischer, Berlin C.2 1941), matched tool and two matched magazines.

I can't speak to the condition of the finish b/c I really know nothing about valuing guns. There's decent wear around the tip of the barrel and along the sides (looks like it was probably holstered/reholstered quite a bit). It also appears the strawing (I believe it's called) is faded but still has a slight brownish hue.

Anyway, I'm hoping someone can tell me a general price range for this gun given that it has two matched magazines (which I read is rare) but has a mismatched barrel. I'm also wondering how desirable this particular model is to collectors. We may end up keeping it, but I'd like to know what it might be worth otherwise.

I could post some pictures if that would help. My mom is a bit wary of that, but I may be able to put a few up later.

You appear to have a very nice, complete police rig. The pistol has the police sear safety, and the mags are police marked. There are people here who specialize in those, so I'll let them tell you more.

The mags are not the original wood based, but rather from the early war years. These may have been swapped in about the same time as the holster. The barrel number doesn't match, so it may have been a re-work. Is that an eagle over a 6 at the base of the barrel?

This is the problem with national news on some issues. Unless you are taking pictures with a GPS enabled camera (a phone camera 'might') then GPS tagging is simply impossible.

Also, many people worry about the serial number etc, but since you have ownership, and have had for years, it is unlikely that this ever happens.

A person 'can' black out the first 2 numbers of the serial if they desire, I personally feel it is silly, but...

What other guns?

It is preferable to load pictures here on the forum...

Ok, talking about the police luger itself; this is a nice example, I have to see what you mean by non-matching barrel, as that affects value a lot. And 2 matching magazines for police guns is much more common than army matching magazines.

The magazines are nazi, eagle D, which is not that common and yes, would add value, although the bases are on much earlier bodies.

Value, well if the barrel matched, then about $1800 and maybe even $2200, however the barrel is a mismatch and that is a major part. close up below

I hate to say this outloud, but I think the entire rig is worth about $1200 as is, including the nice police holster with matching tool.

Commercial barrel??? What is that proof below the serial???...I don't think I've seen that one before...
