Yes, I think it is a good idea to present guns, even collector pieces, to others (especially to non-specialist guests) in a way that shows that they are unloaded or loaded with a dummy round.
It has become almost natural to open up and inspect hand guns after supervising shooters at the local gun range for about 8 years now. At the range, the guns are unloaded and open (slide open, bolt open, cilinder exposed, etc...) with no magazines inserted when not at the shooting position. |
