Wink How luckly can a person be???

I feel I must share this story with the forum.
Last year, while attending a small local gunshow, I was stopped at a table occupied by members of a local Duck Unlimited chapter. I was offered a chance on winning a gun at their next banquet. The ticket was $20.00 and they were giving away a total of ten guns. Happy to contribut to Ducks Unlimited as well as shot at winning a gun, I purchased a ticket. This was months in advance of the banquet. By the time the banquet was held, the ticket was just a faint memory. Sometime in late October I got a call from a gunshop informing me that I had won a gun at a Ducks Unlimited function. Of course my first question was "what did I win"? Out of 10 possible gun to be given away, I had won a Taurus Judge.
About two months ago, I saw the same group of guys selling tickets once again for this year's banquet. I had planned to attend, not only because I had purchased a ticket, but I felt that I would want to give something back for the prize I had won the previous year. Becauce of a family illness, I was unable to attend. I got a call tonight and glanced at the caller ID. The call was from the same gunshop where I picked up the Judge last year. Knowing the banquet was last night, I was very anxious to hear what the caller had to say. Yep, I won another gun. Would you believe out of ten different guns to be given away, I won another Judge!

Yeah I have luck just like that. Of course the Judges are considered a short barrel shotgun and illegal to own in CA. Just my luck.

Good going in winning and supporting DU.

I thought that by marking the barrel for a caliber round they got around that issue? At least on the Fed. level. IE the Thompson Contender in .45LC/.410. Are TC's illegal in CA?

Of course I understand that California has to create its own boogey-men.

When I was still working at the gun shop. "Judges" were impossible to find and everybody that came through the door wanted one. We finally found one, and when it came in we were looking it over. I had an thought after looking at it. Went over and got a box of .444 Marlin ammo, took out a round and tried it in one of the chambers. It fit like it was made for it.

I've been waiting to here about one of the "Hold My Beer, and Watch This!" crowd blowing body parts off after they figure this out.

We contacted the Taurus USA and told them about it, but haven't heard if they ever altered it to prevent the chambering of a .444 Marlin cartridge. Can you say Hand Grenade?

There are some TC uppers that you can not buy. The Judge also falls under the Assault Weapons ban because it is a shot gun with a rotating mag just like the street sweeper. We are working on getting these laws over turned so there maybe a Judge in CA future.

I always wondered who won the drawings. Lotto time.
