Talking Looking to buy DWM 1920 commercial luger all matching 7.65 but chromed

Hey gang I am new to the forum and new to collecting lugers. I am purchasing an all matching 1920 commercial luger from one of my soldiers and he is asking 600. I know the grips have been replaced with crappy bone ones. All of the proof marks are there, but the only other thing is that someone chromed it over ther years. Other that that the gun is in great shape. Would this be a good buy at 600. Serial number is 8329 L. Thanks

James, Welcome to the Forum!

It all depends on what you want the pistol for..It is purely a shooter. Is it 9MM?

I doubt it. If .30 Luger... you will pay dearly for ammunition.

Does it shoot well? You might want to determine that as that is what it will be for.

The price is not really out of line IF this is the pistol you want to take to the range.

Crappy bone ones sound about right for a chromed shooter...

Good Luck!

For me it wouldn't be a good buy. Chromed lugers have a limited market. They are not something a collector would want. For a couple hundred more you can buy a good shooter that looks like a luger and not some pimp gun. The other problem is that 7.65 ammo is expensive if you plan on doing much shooting. We all have our own thing so if you like it make an offer below $600. Just my opinion. Welcome to the Forum. Bill

I dunno...at the crazy prices these days for ANY Luger, if it was unbuffed before plating and matching, I"d pay 600 for it , remove the plating and rust blue it myself (practice is paying off!), and put a set of wood grips on it....voila

I myself would personally not buy it. .30 Luger ammo is 20 bucks a box at the Sportsmanguide and not a lot of money if bought on-line. I just bought a 1920 Commercial Luger all matching for 700 and this is what they would go for if you found one in a pawnshop. NOW this is only my opinion, but a Chrome Luger to me would look ridiculous. Save a few hundred more and buy the real thing unaltered. This gun will never have any collector value or value. It should be a 300 dollar gun if not 400 max.
