the site http://oldguns.net on the very bottom of the main page will tell you the year of manufacture of US military firearms by entering the serial number. Click on the MAIN PAGE on the blue screen then scroll all the way down. Don't do it from here cause I couldn't get back without completely closing the system but that might be my problem.

The site has a loop system that takes you back to the web page again and again. Just click 'back' and then wait for it to load and then 'back' again really quick, I hate these suckers, they are really irritating and I refuse to patronize any site that does that. Screw em, I put them in the same category as spammers.

Depending on the browser you are using, you can also click on the little arrow to the right of the back icon and you should be able to skip past the intro page.
