Default ATTN Luger & Mauser Collectors, especially in Atlanta, GA, & SC Lowcountry- NICE SPEC

I have an acquaintance that is trying to do one of her friends a solid in assisting him sell a few Lugers and Mausers that belonged to a deceased relative. I saw them for sale, noted that the prices seemed low (I am by no means a Luger/Mauser expert,) and had her take them off the market until we could get a few informed opinions about the pistols.

Below you will find a few pics, and I'd appreciate your input. I know that Artillery Luger is worth far more than $750.

Several are worth closer to a a grand or more, but the first 3 lugers are the newer ones and not worth $800 each and the third is a vopo post war used luger, worth from $600-$800

Everything depends on originality and condition.

Ed,

I very much appreciate your help.

Could you recommend someone...hopefully somewhere between Atlanta & Charleston...to do a proper hands-on assessment/appraisal?

Laid eyes and hands on them this past weekend. They seem nice enough, but I don't know a bloody thing about them, especially as to whether or not they've been refinished.

I have been looking at Artillerys on Gunbroker The lowest Buy it now price for a 1917 is $1275.00 with no takers followed by one at $1390.00 with no bids.
There were two with bids, a 1916 85% blue at $905 and one with a holster for $500 (reserve not met)
Let me know if your frend is interested as I am in the market for one.

No offense, but I think the regulars on here would know the value of the Lugers better than you might think.

Using Gunbroker to value such guns only goes so far. I pulled up all of them available on Gunbroker. There were only three. One was cobbeled together from many other guns and with some reproduction parts. Another was butchered by the Europeans by removing the chamber date, ruining it for anyone who collects. The last one, the one with the nice holster rig and all matching numbers (except the mag, possible taking it out of the market for a serious collector) is the only one that any of us might consider. It is under priced with a starting price of $2,500. The only reasons there have been no bids are that either it's too early to bid (most serious bids occur during the last few hours) or that there is no one bidding right now that has that kind of cash. Also, there are only two pictures of the gun itself, which usually makes collectors suspicious.

The simple fact that there were only three on Gunbroker should be an indication as to how rare they are to find. Trying to BS the possible seller into a very lowball price by using erroneous info is a tad underhanded, IMHO.
